The 3.30a patch pushed down on Monday introduced significant and serious perfomance and lag issues that almost make the game unplayable:
- When switching between zones, or toons, the load time for the new zone or toon has increased by a factor of 10-20
- When leaving a toon, or exiting the game, it can take 30-60 seconds
- The above get progressively worse with the more zones/toons crossed or used, necessitating a quit of the application and a relaunch
- Constant lag spikes are encountered: I will be on my mount and consistently, every 5-10 seconds, the screen will pause and then jump
I am running under Mac OS X 10.6.2 on a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor with 8GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM and with an NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT graphics card, on a 30-inch display with 2560x1600 resolution.
When the above happens, the FPS meter indicates anywhere from 30-72 fps. It is a very different phenomenon than slow frame rate.
These issues were encountered only after Monday's patch was installed. Prior to that, aside from obvious memory leak issues with Version 3.3 (which necessitated a quit/relaunch of the application after switching between many toons), performance was good.
