I was also at MacWorld and had a first hand experience at trying out the new MacBook Pros. First, they wouldn't let me close the lid. Very suspcious. Second, the MacBook did indeed perform faster. I tried iPhoto with about 160 thumbnails shown... no slow down, smooth as silk. Finally, the response on Safari was super fast. A little too fast actually. I think there was some type of web cache in place... I went to sites that should take about 5 seconds to load and display... no aparent slow down on the MacBook.
