Ovo je usporedna lista brzina centralnih procesora raznovrsnih Macintosh računala korisnika Jabučnjaka. Brzina je izražena u gigaflopsima (10 na devetu operacija s pomičnim zarezom u sekundi). Na listi se, zanimljivosti radi, nalaze i podaci za neka druga (super)računala i za par popularnih grafičkih procesora (GPU). Kako često u forumu dotičemo temu brzine konkretnih Mac računala i uspoređujemo različit hardver, ovakva usporedna lista vrlo je korisna i kao vodič kod kupovine novih i polovnih računala.
Važno je reći da ove brojke govore isključivo o snazi obrade podataka samog centralnog procesora (ili više njih), a ne o sveukupnoj brzini računala koja ovisi i o drugim dijelovima sustava poput sabirnice, količine radne memorije, brzine pohrane i brzine grafičkog podsustava. Nekada je brzina samog centralnog procesora bila najvažniji podatak za performanse nekog računala, a danas, kada sam CPU često više nije "usko grlo", veći značaj dobiva uravnoteženost brzine svih bitnih dijelova računala. Ipak, ovaj podatak mnogo govori jer najčešće računalo koje ima brz centralni procesor koristi i sukladno brze druge komponente sustava.
Lako možete testirati brzinu procesora svojeg Maca; preuzmite program Power Fractal 1.4.1, isključite sve aktivne aplikacije i nestandardne pozadinske procese (ako imate takvih). Ostavite standardnu veličinu prozora 848 x 614 koju program sam postavi kada se pokrene, a na izborniku "Maximum Count" odaberite brojku 1,048,576 - i to je to! Pustite Mac da odradi posao i pogledajte vrijeme i rezultat izražen u megaflopsima. Ako posjedujete Mac koji nije ovdje izlistan, bit će nam drago ako nam javite njegov rezultat.
